Senior Sewer Rebates

The City of Chicago provides a $50 annual refund to seniors on their sewer bills. The following are the requirements that must be met in order to be eligible for the Senior Sewer Rebate:

You must be 65 years of age, or older, as of January 1 for the year you are applying.
You must be the sole owner, owner in joint tenancy, or tenancy in common of the property.
You must occupy the property as your principal place of residence.
You must own a townhouse, condominium unit, or cooperative apartment that shares a common water bill.

Condominium Refuse Rebates

Condominium associations, cooperative apartment buildings, and townhouses that are not eligible to receive City waste-hauling services may be entitled to a rebate on the costs of their private scavenger service.

The Condominium Refuse Rebate program is administered by the Committee on Finance. As of January 1, 2012, there are several amendments to the program, including significant changes to application deadlines and building eligibility.

Please review the Refuse Rebate Ordinance in detail for information on eligibility requirements and application deadlines. Refuse rebate application forms are available at the Committee on Finance website.

Mail the completed application and supporting documentation prior to the deadline to:

Applications should be sent via a method that provides a delivery confirmation receipt to keep with the building’s records.
